Happy Valentine’s Day! Did you say “I love you” to your beloved one today?

Today I have some funny phrases to amuse you and your friend. Let’s laugh together :)

เพื่อนสนิทคิดไม่ซื่อ [pûan-sà-nìt kít mâi sûu]
= Literally: The best friend who is not honest. The Thai phrase translates as a friend who falls in love with their best friend, secretly.

รักนะจุ๊บ จุ๊บ [rák ná júb júb]
= Love you! Kiss kiss!

รักนะเด็กโง่ [rák ná dèk ngôh]
= Love you,  silly girl/ boy.

Also I have a joke for you:

A: ขอโทษค่ะ / ครับ ช่วยสะกดคำว่า “love” เป็นภาษาไทยให้หน่อยได้ไหมคะ / ครับ
[kɔ̌ɔ-tôht kâ / kráp. chûay sà-gòt kam-wâa “Love” bpen paa-sǎa Thai hâi nɔ̀ɔi dâi mái ká/kráp?]
A: Sorry, could you please tell me how to spell the word, “love” in Thai?

Learn Thai:Phrases-Breaking Up

How are you? I hope everybody is happy in Valentine’s Day the day of love. But sometimes love is not that easy, maybe some people will be sad on Valentine’s Day as  they want break up with their lovers. These are some Thai phrases that are used when you want to break up!

Thai Phrases

คุณดีเกินไป [kun dii gәәn bpai]
= You are too good for me.
(Jang: sometimes I don’t understand either, why they don’t like a good people in their life??? But anyway, this is what they really say when they want to break up. LOL)

เราเป็นเพื่อนกันดีกว่า [rao bpen pûan gan dii gwàa]
= It’s better for us to be only friends.

เราเข้ากันไม่ได้ [rao kâo gan mâi dâi]Come learn Thai lesson with Thai Language Hut
= We cannot get along well.

ไม่ต้องโทรมาอีกนะ [mâi dtɔ̂ɔng toh maa ìik ná]
= Don’t call me again!

ฉัน / ผมมีคนอื่นแล้ว [chán / pǒm mii kon ùun lɛ́ɛw]
= I have another person / I have a new one already.

คุณน่าเบื่อมาก [kun nâa-bùa mâak]
= You are very boring!

คนโกหก [kon goh-hòk]
= A liar!

คุณแอบมีกิ๊กใช่ไหม [kun ɛ̀ɛp mii gík châi mái?]
= You have a secret affair, right!?

ฉัน / ผมไม่ได้รักคุณแล้ว [chán / pǒm mâi rák kun lɛ́ɛw]
= I don’t love you any more.

ทำไมคุณถึงรักฉัน / ผม [tam-mai kun tǔng rák chán / pǒm]
= Why do you love me?

เราเลิกกันเถอะ [rao lә̂әk gan tә̀]
= Shall we break up/ I want to break up.

อกหัก [òk hàk]
= Heartbroken

Learn Thai : Activity in Valentine’s Day

Hi.. What is your plan for this coming Valentine’s Day?

I think for people who have boyfriend and girlfriend might have planned to hang out with them. Or people who are sigle might go to party with friends. Let’s see what they going to do in Thailand.

1. แต่งงาน Get married
Many couple go to register marriage at the office or arrange a wedding party because they believe that Valentine’s Day, the day of love, would be a good day for they couple life. Or some men propose girls in this day too.

2. อาหารเย็นสุดโรแมนติก A romantic dinner
Many couple go out for a special dinner with a nice atmosphere, candle light, soft music.

3. เซอร์ไพร์สด้วยดอกไม้ Surprise by flowers
Some boyfriend surprises his girlfriend with a big bouquet of roses or any flowers which have a good meaning about love.

4. ให้ของขวัญ Give a gift
May girls give a little gift to her boyfriend as well such as chocolate, necktie, sweet.

5. ไปปาร์ตี้กับเพื่อน Party with friends
Seems like this is more for single people. Many people go to party with friends, enjoy their single life. It is a good time to stay with friends as well.

Vocabularies

แต่งงาน /dtɛ̀ɛng-ngaan/ = to get married

ขอแต่งงาน /kɔ̌ɔ-dtɛ̀ɛng-ngaan/ = to propose

อาหารเย็น /aa-hǎan-yen/ = dinner

โสด /sòht/ = to be single

Are you interested in Thai girls or Thai boys and would like to court them? They would be delighted if they have been asked. Whatever the result is, you can try first. These are some phrases that you can try in Thai language in this coming Valentine’s Day :)

คุณมีแฟนหรือยัง [kun mii fɛɛn rú yang?]
= Do you have a boyfriend/ girlfriend?

ฉัน / ผมมีแฟนแล้ว [chán / pǒm mii fɛɛn lɛ́ɛw]
= I have boyfriend/ girlfriend already.

ฉัน / ผมยังไม่มีแฟน [chán / pǒm yang mâi mii fɛɛn]
= I haven’t had a boyfriend/ girlfriend yet.

ฉัน / ผมโสด [chán / pǒm sòht]
= I’m single.

ฉัน / ผมโสดสนิท  [chán / pǒm sòht sà-nít]
=I’m absolutely single. ^_^

ขอเบอร์(โทรศัพท์)หน่อยได้ไหม [kɔ̌ɔ bәә (toh-rá-sàp) nɔ̀ɔi dâi mái?]
= May I have your (telephone) number?

คืนนี้คุณจะทำอะไร  [kuun-níi kun jà tam à-rai?]
=What will you do tonight?

ไปดูหนังกันไหม [bpai duu nǎng gan mái?]Do you have a girlfriend ?
= Shall we go to see a movie?

ไปกินข้าวกันไหม [bpai gin kâao gan mái?]
= Shall we go to eat?

ไว้โอกาสหน้า [wái oh-gàat nâa]
= Maybe some other time / maybe next time.

คุณเป็นคนน่ารัก [kun bpen kon nâa-rák]
= You are a nice person.

คืนนี้สนุกมากเลย [kuun-níi sà-nùk mâak lәәi]
= I have a blast tonight / I have fun tonight.

จะได้เจอคุณอีกเมื่อไร [jà dâi jәә kun ìik mûa-rài?]
= When will I meet you again?

ฝันดีนะ [fǎn dii ná]
= Have a good dream / have a goodnight.

คุณคิดยังไงกับฉัน / ผม [kun kít yang-ngai gàp chán / pǒm]
= What do you think about me?

ฉัน/ ผมยังไม่รู้จักคุณดีพอ [chán / pǒm yang mâi rúu-jàk kun dii pɔɔ]
= I don’t know you well enough.

ขอเวลาอีกหน่อย [kɔ̌ɔ wee-laa ìik nɔ̀ɔi]
= Please give me some more time

เป็นเพื่อนกันไปก่อนนะ [bpen pûan gan bpai gɔ̀ɔn ná]
= Let’s be friend first

Learn Thai: Valentine’s Day in Thailand

Valentine’s Day(วันวาเลนทน์ /wan waa-len-taai/) is one of the popular celebration  for young people in Thailand. Even more than the west, Thai teenagers and young adults are madly in love with Valentine’s Day. Boys will buy bouquets of roses for their girlfriends, or some cute dolls. Girls will buy chocolate, candy, or small gifts for their boyfriends. Or friends will buy some chocolate and candy or small gifts for friends too.

Every shopping mall will set stalls to sell flowers, Valentine’s Day balloons, stuffed animals and chocolate. They’re often surrounded by Thai girls, trying to decide what they’re going to buy for boyfriends, love interests and friends.

Many couple will go to register their marriages at municipal offices in Bangkok district of Bang Rak (บางรัก), which can be translated as “Love Area” and they believe that it is a very good name for their marriage.
