Learn Thai:Negative past tense /mâi dâai + Verb / ไม่ได้ + Verb

didnt + verb / ไม่ได้ +VerbSàwàt dii kâ, Hi everyone in this online Thai blog we are going to learn to say negative past tense  in Thai we use the pattern  :

                                                                  Mâi dâai  + Verb ( Phrase)   =   didn’t

                                                                       /  ไม่ได้  + Verb( Phrase)   /         

 is used to describe action  that did not take place in the past ; it cannot be used with stative verbs :

Example :

       1. Chán mâi dâai bpai kɔ́ Sà-mèt  aa- tít tîi lɛ́ɛw.

                 / ฉันไม่ได้ไปเกาะเสม็ดอาทิตย์ที่แล้ว /                        

          Last week I didn’t go to Samet Island.

 

        2. John mâi dâai bpai wâay –náam  săam wan lɛ́ɛw.

             / จอห์นไม่ได้ไปว่ายน้ำสามวันแล้ว /   

          John didn’t go to swim for  3 days already.
